“Your Way
Home”
When all the bread crumbs they had scattered in the wood
had been eaten by a bird
Lost and hungry, the tired children stood
In this dark and lonely place... only fear could be heard
They whispered to each other:
I know the path is here - even though we cannot see
I know we will be Home soon - I know we can be free
Then through the woods a sweet smell drew the children
A house a gingerbread lined with all the candy they could
eat
And a needy creature to draw them in
A place to rest their feet
But soon the children found
The creature wasn’t what it claimed to be
And as it went to push them down
The children pushed it into its own pit and were free
The held each other and cried:
I know the path is here - even though we cannot see
I know we will be Home soon - I know we can be free
A knock came at the door...
The children were afraid and felt alone
They had faced so much, how could they find strength to
stand to more
But their father had sent a messenger to find them and lead
them Home
In the light of the sun the messenger said with
confidence:
I know the path is here - even though we cannot see
I know we will be Home soon - I know we can be free
The children stepped outside the gingerbread walls
And saw in the distance... little puffs of a chimneys smoke
Home was just a little way from their desperate calls
The messenger walked with them and smiled as they spoke
As they arrived the father ran
with tears in his eyes
and a new life then began
filled with wonder and surprise
